A Software Guide for the LINC Classroom

This guide has been developed for the LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) instructors in Ontario to assist them in providing Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL). It includes comprehensive step-by-step instructions and explanations about the use of the following software: Explore Canada, ELLIS (Intro, Middle Mastery, Senior Mastery, Master Pronunciation, Placement, and Instructor Utilities), Tense Buster (including Tense Buster Authoring), Microsoft Word, and Windows 95 at five levels of instruction. Each level includes sample lesson plans and suggested activities that have been aligned with the LINC 1-5 Curriculum Guidelines developed for Ontario. Additional tools in the guide include an introduction to CALL and CMC (Computer Mediated Communication), lab rules and maintenance, troubleshooting and networking, as well as a computer skills checklist, glossaries, and electronic resources for instructors and learners.

Please click here to access the guide. (You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.05 in order to view the guide.)
